Aaahhh the Oregon Coast. I love it even in the wintertime. We drove with friends to Tillamook to spend what I think will be our last vacation at the Schmid family cabin on Cape Mear's. They have put the cabin on the market. I will miss staying there, but it won't stop us from our coastal journey's.
Other than the icy roads, we had great weather. Had a great time crabbing, beach combing, relaxing, squeaky cheese curd, visiting old haunts and game nights. What a great place to welcome in the New Year.
Alex's friend accompanied us. She is a kick to have around and is a great sport. I loved having a new victim to share all of my coast stories with. Having lived in Otter Rock for a year I have plenty of them!!
I must say that winter caught crab tastes much better than the summer caught crab. Although it might have to do with spending so much time on the bay FREEZING!! Boy, was it ever cold that morning....
Being out in the bay in a small boat brought back memories of my dad, mom and brother Blueback fishing on the Siuslaw river. (We didn't have the pea can though...)
